TuTech
was founded in 1992 by the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg
to forge a link between the university and the economy.
Today,
TuTech is a one-stop shop for technology transfer in Hamburg;
its main businesss activities lie in the fields of:
- The
management and performance of contract research projects
and technical studies in co-operation with the Technical
University Hamburg-Harburg, the Christian-Albrechts-University
at Kiel and other research institutions.
- Finding
co-operation partners
- Exploiting
R & D results
- Acting
as technical consultant to companies and as a consultant
on the promotion of business plans
- Running
training courses
- Organising
conferences and fairs
- Advising
and supporting young, technology-orientated firms.
Technology
transfer in Hamburg was re-organised in 2004 when TuTech and
c:bs channel business services merged with the technological
advisory centre Hamburg to form TuTech Innovation GmbH as
the central point for technological transfer in Hamburg. All
colleges and universities in Hamburg now conduct their transfer
activities with Hamburg Innovation GmbH, an associate company
of TuTech Innovation GmbH.
TuTech
is active in bio-technology, civil engineering, information
and communication technologies, system technology, physics
technology, material sciences, maritime technology, transport
and logistics, environmental technology, process engineering
and energy technology. TuTech’s customers and co-operation
partners include many big German companies as well as a large
number of small and medium-sized companies, with particular
focus on the economic environment in and around Hamburg.
TuTech
is currently involved in 25 current European R & D projects
and runs a variety of national research and development projects
as well as studies for the Federal Ministry of Education,
Science and Research, the Federal Ministry of Transport, the
Federal Office for the Environment, the German Federal Foundation
for the Environment and the Office for Economic Affairs in
Hamburg etc.
TuTech
functions as a business incubator for technology-orientated
businesses. Based on the R & D results and the technological
know-how of its scientific partners, TuTech develops business
ideas for commercial activities. Successful businesses are
hived off, with TuTech contributing to the business during
the seed phase. TuTech has supported around 50 start-up ventures
deriving from Hamburg university departments and research
institutes.
